Key features:
The Portkeys HD7H is an entry-level 7-inch monitor designed for enthusiastic filmmakers and content creators on a budget or simply as a second budget-friendly monitoring solution.
This lightweight monitor is made of ABS and PC and tips the scale at only 278g/9.8oz. Measuring only 178 x 104 x 25.8mm, this compact monitor won’t add much bulk to your camera rig.
The HD7H features a 7-inch display with a maximum brightness of 1,000nits, making it an excellent monitoring solution, no matter if you’re shooting indoors or in bright daylight conditions. Also, it has a vast 178° viewing angle thanks to a frosted screen with anti-glare coating.
The panel’s resolution is 1280 x 720, it covers 75% of the Rec.709 color space and has a 1000:1 contrast ratio.
At the bottom of the Portkeys HD7H, you’ll find all of the ports, including one full-size HDMI video input port that can take video signals up to DCI 4K at 24p, UHD 4K at 30p, or 1080p at up to 60p. Next to the HDMI input is an AV input port that doubles as a 3.5mm audio input.
You’ll also find a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-A port for future firmware upgrades, and a DC 7-24V power input with a 5.5mm barrel connector, which allows you to power the monitor externally.
At the back of the HD7H, you’ll find a built-in Sony NP-F-style battery plate. With a low power draw of only 10W, a single Sony NP-F750 battery can power the monitor for up to 10 hours at full brightness, making it easy to go through an entire shooting day.
Image is important when reviewing your footage, but sound is also crucial. That’s why we included a built-in speaker at the back of the Portkeys HD7H so you can review your footage properly.
At the top of the monitor, you’ll find two user-assignable buttons to toggle on and off your favorite monitoring tools quickly. The power switch, battery eject, menu, and navigation controls buttons are also located at the top of the monitor, so all of the Portkeys HD7H controls are right at your fingertips.
Flexibility is key on set, so we implemented three 1/4″-20 mounting points on the HD7H’s bottom, left, and right sides. You’ll never struggle to mount the monitor anywhere you want on your camera, camera rig, tripod, gimbal, table stand, etc.
The Portkeys HD7H has most of the essential professional monitoring tools you can expect, including:
– Peaking with a new algorithm that is more precise than ever when focusing manually.
– Picture zoom.
– Anamorphic image de-squeeze with all the standard ratios (1.33x, 1.5x, 2.0x) and the possibility to enter a custom aspect ratio from 0.25 to 4.0x.
